Cultural Mapping Project: As part of a joint initiative with 2010 BC Legacies, the City undertook a comprehensive Cultural Mapping Project to create an extensive inventory cultural performance venues, artists and year around events. As part of the project, a website was developed featuring a directory for the "arts" resources in White Rock. The website has information on venues, artists, programs, and events, with links, maps, and much much more. Check it out: www.whiterockculture.ca

The Cultural Committee: This committee is formed by a group of White Rock City Council appointed individuals that excel at their commitment to promote Arts & Culture in White Rock. The committee meets regularly to explore initiatives to capitalize on the inherent beauty and artistic nature of White Rock to contribute to the economic development of the community.

1. Continue to support the busking program and the creation of busking signage;
2. Continue involvement with the Cultural Mapping project including:
   1. Monitoring the implementation of a Central Registry of all Cultural Groups;
   2. Supporting recommendations contained in the Cultural Mapping report; and
   3. Advocating for the creation of a Cultural Strategic Plan.
3. Exploring community partnerships (eg. Emily Carr University) and other creative means to encourage arts and culture space including a dedicated arts centre in the community;
4. Continue outreach in the community through requesting that Council endorse liaising and information exchanging with various City committees and other organizations on items of mutual interest;
5. Research arts and cultural grants and monitor arts related websites (i.e. Creative City) as appropriate;
6. Support the newly adopted Community Public Art Council Policy by helping to increase understanding, awareness and enjoyment of public art in the community; and
7. Request that Council authorize staff to continue to liaise with the City of Surrey regarding arts initiatives.
